The Bible is NOT against Homosexuality
Alright let me start off by saying that I am in no way shape or form a homosexual, I have a girlfriend and I’m happy and in love with her. So one might ask why would defend gay marriage and I’m not gay myself. Well let’s start off by saying that I grew in a city where there are many people around me who are different from me in many different ways but at the end of the day were all human. And I’m the type of person that if see something is unjust. I’m going to speak out and against it and not sit back and watch it happen. And denying two people the right to marry and live happy lives whether it is a homosexual or heterosexual couple to me is flat out wrong and it makes my blood boil. My take on life is that if someone is doing something that you might feel wrong yourself but it doesn’t affect you and no one else why hinder their happiness. If your neighbors are gay what does that have to do with you? You might eat hot dogs and they are vegans so does that mean since there vegans you shouldn’t eat hot dogs. A lot of times people will say god said that being gay is an abomination but most people who say this don’t have understand the bible. I’m atheist but grew up around Christians and a lot of them said that homosexuality is wrong and clearly said in the bible. Well it did say that but doesn’t it literally. Since abomination in those days meant something outside customs of their society. And below I’m going to include the list of verses that identifies what abominations were.
Genesis 46:34 you shall say, 'Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers,' in order that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."
Proverbs 13:19 A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul; but to turn away from evil is an abomination to fools.
Proverbs 29:27 - (2) An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, but he whose way is straight is an abomination to the wicked.
Leviticus 7:18 If any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offering is eaten on the third day, he who offers it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be credited to him; it shall be an abomination, and he who eats of it shall bear his iniquity.

Even if you do believe in a god that still doesn’t make it right to discriminate against those who are different from you. They might not believe in god so why impose your beliefs on others. How would you feel if someone imposed their beliefs on you and affected your everyday life? Also a lot of Americans have an ignorant view on gays. They might think they’re going to make everyone else gay and if they adopt they will molest children and make them gay. Which is so far from the truth it laughable to think like that, but people still do. Also people will say that what’s wrong with civil unions and there is a lot of things wrongs with. The USA government list over 1300 benefits based on marriage that if your in a civil union you’re not entitled to receive. These benefits include unpaid leave to care for an ill spouse, social security survivor benefits and spousal benefits, and the right not to testify against one’s spouse. So no matter what a person believes being against gay marriage politically and not allowing them to marry is not only wrong it is morally unethical.
